Franklin/Fulton County Community Support Program (CSP) A Recovery Model for People with Mental Illness and Co-occurring Disorders Every adult living in Franklin / Fulton County who has a mental illness shall enjoy the highest equality of life which includes: inclusion within the community, easy access to and choice of comprehensive treatment services, supports and opportunities to enhance personal growth and recovery. What is CSP of Franklin / Fulton County? It is a coalition of mental health consumers, family members, mental health professionals, and other community members who are working together to help adults with serious mental illness and co-occurring disorders such as substance abuse live successfully in the community. It is part of a statewide coalition that began in 1984. The local CSP began in May 2000 and is part of the Central Region, which includes several nearby counties.Through the local CSP initiative, small seed grants to CSP, agencies, and advocacy groups have generated innovative training, anti-stigma campaigns, CSP celebrations and the production of a wide variety of literature. Through CSP, consumers have been empowered and have risen to leadership roles. Becoming involved in CSP Committees CSP committees offer a forum in Pennsylvania where consumers, family members and professionals are united by a common set of beliefs and values and use their combined strengths to promote systems change. As a result CSP principles have helped to shape the way treatment services are delivered to consumers. They have improved the public's understanding that consumers and family members should be regarded as people first, and have advocated for the implementation of quality evidence-based treatments that support and enhance the recovery of persons with serious mental illness. The cornerstone of CSP is the integration of families, friends, professionals and other natural supports into the lives of people with mental illness. We invite you to make a meaningful difference in the lives of consumers with serious mental illness and those with co-occurring substance use disorders by becoming involved with the Franklin and Fulton County Community Support Program. |
